Active learning in a lecture with 150 students – what works for you?
I teach the astronomy lecture for first-year physics: around 150 students in a large hall. Attendance drops after week four and I suspect pure slides are part of the problem. Has anyone used short polls, peer instruction or think-pair-share at that scale? I would love concrete examples of what worked and what took too much time.
